Emerita is the story of a little girl's journey by ocean liner from a Caribbean island to the United States to begin a new life with relatives in New York City. The story is recalled by her granddaughter.
Emerita was inspired by the author s grandmother who came from Puerto Rico many years ago. Emerita received a Runner Up Award at the DIY Book Festival and Honorable Mention in four very prestigious contests: The San Francisco Book Festival, the International Latino Book Awards, the New York Book Festival, and the Hollywood Book Festival.
