Emerita is the story of a little girl's journey by ocean liner from a Caribbean island to the United States to begin a new life with relatives in New York City. The story is recalled by her granddaughter.
Emerita was inspired by the author's grandmother who came from Puerto Rico many years ago. Emerita received a Runner Up Award at the DIY Book Festival and an Honorable Mention in four very prestigious contests: The San Francisco Book Festival, the International Latino Book Awards, the New York Book Festival, and the Hollywood Book Festival.
